Arena-based roguelike game for PC

Diebary is a premium action game for PC from developer Other Ocean Interactive. It's a top-down roguelike boasting fast-paced gameplay wherein players will have to battle against thousands of enemies in order to survive and escape. There are multiple characters to choose from with unique skills and abilities.

Similar to Vampire Survivors or 20 Minutes Till Dawn, each run in Diebary lets players collect gold, which they can use to purchase and unlock skill boosts, and slowly build a skill tree for their characters. These additional abilities can help them to reach further and do better in their next attempt.

Survive and escape

As is the case with the now-established survivors sub-genre of roguelikes, the premise in this game is simple. You'll enter the titular Diebrary and face an overwhelming horde as you try to survive and make it out on the other side. There are five characters to pick for the fight like the Elph, Barbarian, and a Cone Dog. Each one has unique skills they bring to the table.

For weapons, the game has plenty with seven primary and twelve secondary armaments at your disposal. Experiment with different combinations to find one best suited for different scenarios and enemies. You get to choose from random temporary perks and bonuses as you level up. Collect gold to buy skill boosts and purchase additional perks from the Perk Shop to use with your future runs.

What's more, you will encounter caged pets during your runs, and you can gain their help by freeing them. There's also the Asynchronous Multiplayer mode that lets you and your friends vote on story twists for each chapter. All that said, though, that game tends to be on the easy side. Veteran players will want more of a challenge over time.

More challenge

Diebrary is another addition to the growing list of survivor-like games, and it's an interesting one. Apart from the five character classes, there's a good amount of weapon choices to combine and experiment with. The asynchronous multiplayer mode is also a nice touch for a more engaging and fun time with friends and family. It tends to be a bit easy, but aside from that, it's worth a play.

PROS

  • Five character classes
  • Extensive weapon and skill choices
  • Pet companions
  • Asynchronous Multiplayer mode

CONS

  • Will be too easy for some players
